Diox Forte is a stable and pure solution of chlorine dioxide.   Diox Forte is activated at the site of use by adding an activator
(component B) to a component A.  Thanks to the patented component B, following a reaction time of 5 hours, a 99.9% pure
chlorine dioxide is formed that has guaranteed stability for 30 days.

WHAT IS CHLORINE DIOXIDE?

Chlorine dioxide is a molecule with the formula ClO2. In a diluted solution, it occurs as a stable radical molecule.
Chlorine dioxide is a gas that dissolves well in water, which is non-corrosive in use. It is effective over a wide pH range (4-10), irrespective of water hardness or water temperature.

The disinfectant action of chlorine dioxide is based on the penetration of the cell wall, with organic components
(sulphur compounds, amines, amino acids, RNA and certain other organic compounds) in the cell and on the surface of the cell membrane reacting with chlorine dioxide, which disrupts the cell metabolism and results in the death of the micro-organism.

In addition to this, micro-organisms do not build resistance to ClO2. Chlorine dioxide is the best available disinfectant for the
removal and prevention of biofilms.

In contrast to many other disinfectants, chlorine dioxide also kills non-active micro-organisms.

EFFECTIVENESS AND BENEFITS OF CHLORINE DIOXIDE

Although chlorine dioxide contains the word “chlorine”, the two chemicals have an entirely different effect.  It does not have the negative secondary effects of chlorine and is at least equally effective, but at much lower concentrations.   • It very effectively kills viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa. It is even effective against chlorine-resistant pathogens such as Cryptosporidum and Giardia
  • It is effective over a wide pH range (4-10) and therefore no additional chemicals are required for pH correction
  • Even low concentrations of chlorine dioxide are very effective, meaning that very little of the product is required to achieve adequate disinfection
  • A limited contact time is sufficient to achieve the high effectiveness of chlorine dioxide
  • Extremely effective in the removal/prevention of biofilms
  • Non-corrosive and therefore does not damage piping, tanks or valves
  • Does not react with ammonium and therefore does not form irritating chloramines
  • Does not form carcinogenic by-products, such as AOX, trihalomethanes, HAAs or mutagen X, as is the case with other disinfectant products
  • Powerful: Residual chlorine dioxide between 0.1-0.5 mg/L is already effective in managing a wide range of harmful bacteria and other micro-organisms
